SKRUF
Skruf is the mildest chewing tobacco in the range. The Ice line is graded in three levels, and even the highest is well below what Siberia declares. If you are looking for a Swedish chewing tobacco with a clear mint note without going to the top of the range, this is the right place.
The three strengths
| Version | Level | Flavor | Nicotine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skruf Ice White #2 | Medium | Mint, menthol | approx. 7 mg/g |
| Skruf Ice White #3 | Strong | Mint, menthol | approx. 14 mg/g |
| Skruf Ice White #4 | Xtra | Mint, menthol | approx. 16 mg/g |
The number on the can is the manufacturer's level, not the nicotine content. That is stated next to it in milligrams per gram, and only that figure is comparable between brands.
Where Skruf sits in the range
The gap to the top is large. Skruf Ice Xtra comes to approx. 16 mg per gram, Pablo Ice Cold 3.0 to approx. 33, Siberia Red and Black to approx. 43 and Garant White Extreme to approx. 50. That means more than a sevenfold difference between Skruf #2 and Garant.
Within the line, by contrast, the steps are small: from #2 to #3 the figure doubles, from #3 to #4 only two milligrams are added. The difference between Strong and Xtra is smaller in use than the name suggests.
Flavor and pouch
All three versions are flavored with mint and menthol and made as White Chew Bags — light-colored pouches that are largely dry on the outside. The flavor stays the same across the levels; only the declaration changes.
